Exchange

During the HAAR exhibition at the Centraal Museum in Utrecht, I met Serbian artist Zoran Todorovic. This occasion leads us to collaborate on an exchange piece with the fashion designer artist Aleksandra Lalic

We decided to reflect on our respective practice and felting technique developed by Zoran and Aleksandra’s for their work Warmth and on my research developed for my graduation project Hair Matter(s) which were exhibited side by side at the HAAR exhibition.

The pieces, a dress designed by Aleksandra Lalic and made from the Serbian hair felt by Zoran Todorovic and a set of a bomber jacket, shorts and socks that I designed and made out of 100% museum visitor’s hair that was kindly donated throughout the duration of the show.

The hair collected was shipped to my studio in London and was felted making sure each hair donated was recognizable but also tangled with the rest of the visitor’s hair, giving a sense of individuality but also of togetherness as material.

This commission became part of the museum collection and was presented to the visitors and participant during March 2017 in the Centraal Museum.
