A Natural Asset

This project is a speculative scenario that involves the crows on platforms across the Netherlands being trained to help to keep the station cleaner of the cigarettes butts.

This project was part of a collaboration with NS, Naturalis Institut and the Design Academy to raise awareness of the Biodiversity of the stations and its protection.

Crows are what we call pest animals, but they are extremely intelligent birds and are an essential asset to the biodiversity of European countries.

Applying the pavlovian conditioning to a natural extremely social animal would allow the crows could be trained to part of the NS team and therefore protecting this species as an asset for the human view of biodiversity.

The experience is a critique of the man-made nature where following the rule of human, some animal can lose their essential role amount the biodiversity but also would need to prove their role as a useful tool for clean and safe made nature.
